My Life In A Nutshell

Born in Lithuania into a sports family…raised in Germany in a peaceful and very loving “bubble” where I also picked up the game of basketball while my father was playing ‘pro’…studied and finished school in the US around the most wonderful people you can imagine while earning a degree in communication.

In my next chapter I moved back to Germany to start my professional basketball career as a player first and then turned to be a coach & scout afterwards. Shortly after, I moved on to travel the world as a Scout for the Boston Celtics and Assistant Coach for the Lithuanian National Team.

I became truly a world citizen. Feeling welcome everywhere, with friends and family all around the globe but the topic ‘home’ remains a mystery to me…more on that later.

The game got taken away from me at an early age (23) and ever since that time I carried a healthy but also sometimes a bit too heavy amount of rage within myself. Nevertheless, this internal drive carried me to where I am today.
Can you imagine an ambitious kid who only dreamt about one thing in his life, without a ‘Plan B’ in mind? Just aiming at one goal while going through life with a tunnel-vision. This shattered dream took away a lot but also opened new doors at the same time. I was ready to explore them passionately!

I always believed that “competitiveness” and “drive” is naturally given (parent’s genetics surely played a part in mine) but sometimes circumstances inflate those attributes and lead to bigger things…a combination of both is the reason why I can’t stop chasing the next “win”, whatever area of life it may be in!
This chip that has been living on my shoulder always gave me the feeling of ‘it’s never good enough’ and keeps pushing me further.

I love competing and I love the emotions of competition itself, I miss it…there is nothing else like it.

During my time as a coach & scout I continue to learn what it means to be ‘on the other side’ and was (still am) fortunate enough to work with some great minds that have strong value-systems and perspectives that taught me what it means to be a professional without losing the human side of it.

In the end, the two biggest lessons of them all for me is that no matter what you do or where you work, it’s
a) the people you work WITH that matter the most. Those people you see day-in, day-out make the process worth-while….and
b) The feeling of contribution and providing value to the organisation.
Nothing supersedes those two!

That’s me in a nutshell…That nut is pretty hard to crack though!

I hope with this page and podcast I can make your time worthwhile too and we can enjoy each other’s company for the time being.

Thank you for being here!
